About Me: I'm an avid bowler who has been bowling for over 30 years. Started in youth leagues when I was 6 years old, I learned how to bowl through my parents who were both certified youth coaches. I got the chance to bowl for college during 1989-1993 which helped my game immensely. I work overnights at a local hospital switchboard, handling information system troubleshooting issues, taking and processing phone calls and other various computer related issues. I love reading, writing, and meeting more people. Currently bowl twice a week in different leagues in different houses, also bowl a lot of scratch tournaments in New England.

Chameleon part 3- another killer night

    Friday, August 17, 2007, 10:10 PM [General]

Punched up a new Ebonite Gamebreaker just before hitting my PBA Experience league in Merrimack, NH this past Thursday. Pin below fingers, cg kicked out with a weight hole to bring everything back into line, it should help me on some of these heavier/tighter patterns. Used it all 3 games on my third time seeing Chameleon this summer. I haven't bowled poorly on this pattern (561, 558) but then again, I haven't been able to create any area significant enough to carry the corners. With the Gamebreaker that changed.

After practice I discovered three lines of attack- off the ditch with a laydown at 2 board crossing 4 board at the arrows, down and in around 9 board, or a slight belly from 17-11. After my first four shots off the ditch were double strike, 3 pin and pocket 6-8, I decided the inside/out 17-11 approach may be best. Plus we had 3 lefties on the pair, all playing different lines but I would be inside of the other two (one my teammate, the other an opponent. I made a 2-2 parallel move in game three when the shot started to push a touch.

Games: 192-223-191= 606. I whiffed a 10 pin in game one, had 2 6-8 splits (1 in game one, 1 to start game three), and kept things clean otherwise. The Gamebreaker didn't lose energy all night, and I now have 600's on 3 of the 5 patterns (my high on Cheetah is 579, high on Viper is 561).

Brought my average up to 193 with two weeks to go. I'm going to miss bowling in this league, it's really helped with my focus, execution, lane play strategy and trying new things I never thought possible about my game.

Scorpion part 3- almost a clean 30 frames

    Saturday, August 4, 2007, 09:53 AM [General]

Well, I've seen the Scorpion pattern for the final time in my summer PBA experience league. I bowled on the end pair 27-28, known for high scores- and expected a little more friction as the temperature outside was close to 100 degrees, meaning it would be hot and humid inside the building despite the air conditioning. I started with my usual 14-11 attack with my pin up Havoc (sanded to about 500 grit these days), then switched to my pin down Animal in the 10th frame of game one when I noticed the Havoc was rolling out to leave back row pins. I moved into the lanes deeper 15-12 game two and then another board game three 16-13, staying with my Animal.

    Scores: 196-189-222= 607

I had 29 clean frames out of 30. I made a washout in the second game to keep my streak alive, but then flagged a 2-8 spare in the 10th frame of the same game to be my only open of the night. I've had 2 600 sets out of my league on Scorpion now, raising my average at 30 games to 193.93. Next week will be back on Cheetah, where I shot 579 2 weeks ago and I think I'm ready for the challenge the third time around.
